Endoscopic Anterior Subcutaneous Transposition of the Ulnar Nerve
نویسنده
چکیده
Cubital tunnel syndrome refers to ulnar nerve compressive neuropathy and most commonly occurs at the level of the elbow. Surgical options include in situ decompression, decompression with anterior transposition of the ulnar nerve, and medial epicondylectomy with or without decompression. With the advancement of endoscopic surgery, techniques of endoscopic in situ decompression of the ulnar nerve, endoscopy-assisted anterior transposition, and endoscopic anterior transposition of the ulnar nerve have been reported with the advantage of minimally invasive surgery. We describe a 2-portal technique of endoscopy-assisted anterior subcutaneous transposition of the ulnar nerve.

Anterior subcutaneous transposition of the ulnar nerve.
Anterior, subcutaneous ulnar nerve transposition decompresses the ulnar nerve and, by transposing anterior to the medial epicondyle, eliminates longitudinal traction forces applied to the nerve during elbow flexion. This article reviews the indications and contraindications of the technique and describes the surgical technique in detail.
متن کاملSubcutaneous Versus Submuscular Anterior Transposition of the Ulnar Nerve for Cubital Tunnel Syndrome
Subcutaneous and submuscular anterior ulnar nerve transposition have been widely used in patients with cubital tunnel syndrome. However, the reliable evidence in favor of 1 of 2 surgical options on clinical improvement remains controversial. To maximize the value of the available literature, we performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to compare subcutaneous versus submuscular anterior u...
متن کاملSubcutaneous vs Submuscular Ulnar Nerve Transposition in Moderate Cubital Tunnel Syndrome
BACKGROUND The surgical treatment of Cubital tunnel syndrome (CubTS) is still a matter of debate. No consensus exists about the necessity of anterior transposition of the ulnar nerve after decompression. However, this technique is fairly common in clinical practice. MATERIAL AND METHODOLOGY In the present study we compared the operative technique (incision length, operative time), postoperati...

OBJECTIVES Retrospective clinical evaluation of 31 patients who underwent ulnar nerve decompression at the elbow and subcutaneous anterior transposition. METHODS From January 2000 to December 2013, 71 patients underwent subcutaneous anterior transposition of the ulnar nerve. Thirty-one patients returned for evaluation. The mean follow-up period was 60 months. Patients were evaluated for the d...
متن کاملAnterior Subcutaneous Transposition of the Ulnar Nerve Affects Elbow Range of Motion: A Mean 13.5 Years of Follow-up
BACKGROUND Surgical decompression of the ulnar nerve is effective for cubital tunnel syndrome. However, deep approaches may result in iatrogenic elbow stiffness. This long-term study was to evaluate the range of motion (ROM) of the elbow and functional outcomes after anterior subcutaneous transposition. METHODS A total of 115 patients (78 male and 37 female; mean age: 46.6 years) who underwen...
